European companies collaborate to develop PLA based household compost shrink wrap labels

On September 19th, CARBIOS announced a partnership with SLEEVER to sign an exclusive long-term contract to jointly develop the first unidirectional transverse shrink film that can be composted at home and bring it to the market.

This collaboration includes a supply agreement for CARBIOS Active, an enzyme solution developed by CARBIOS for the biodegradation of PLA (polylactic acid). CARBIOS Active is directly integrated into the production process, allowing these PLA rich films to be composted at home while ensuring the production of high-quality compost. These films can be used for various applications such as labeling, wrapping, and fixed packaging, suitable for luxury and mass retail markets, providing eco-friendly design solutions for packaging without dedicated value chains.
