Six days later, on October 30, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued an important notice to carry out the collection of typical application cases of intelligent technology in the field of biological manufacturing. Around the biological manufacturing industry chain innovation research and development, pilot scale, manufacturing and other key links, focusing on high-performance protein components design and construction of eight scenarios.

In order to implement the decision and deployment of the Party Central Committee and The State Council on accelerating the promotion of new industrialization, promote intelligent technologies such as artificial intelligence and intelligent manufacturing to enable new industrialization, promote the deep integration of intelligent technology and biological manufacturing, help biological manufacturing scene innovation, and accelerate the formation of new quality productivity, we are organizing the collection of typical application cases of intelligent technology in the field of biological manufacturing. Notice of relevant matters is as follows:

1. Direction of solicitation

With the deep integration of intelligent technology and bio-manufacturing as the main line, the collection of typical application cases will be carried out around the key links of the bio-manufacturing industry chain innovation research and development, pilot scale up, production and manufacturing, focusing on eight scenarios such as high-performance protein component design and construction.

(1) Design and construction of high-performance protein components

Artificial intelligence technologies such as machine learning and large language models are used to explore and design protein sequences and spatial structures, so as to predict and optimize the function of enzymes and other proteins, improve catalytic activity, substrate selectivity, thermal stability, acid and alkaline resistance, target affinity, binding specificity and other properties, and realize applications in biochemistry, agriculture, feed, medicine, environmental protection and other fields.

(2) Analysis and optimization of regulation mechanism

With the help of artificial intelligence and other technologies, we will explore the regulatory mechanisms at the gene expression and enzymatic reaction levels of engineered strains and cell lines, explore or design new regulatory elements from scratch, develop prediction algorithms and models, achieve application results such as unlocking regulatory inhibition problems, dynamic control of key genes and products, and construction of gene circuits, and improve key industrial indicators such as yield, conversion rate, and stress resistance.

(3) Design and optimization of metabolic pathways

Through intelligent technologies such as artificial intelligence, new metabolic pathways are explored and designed, and dry-wet experiment iterations are completed through high-throughput construction and testing to achieve modeling of metabolic pathways, and data models are used to guide the optimization of metabolic pathways to open up the synthesis path of new product molecules, or to achieve the goal of increasing the output of known metabolites and reducing substrate consumption.

(4) Construction and optimization of cell factories

Artificial intelligence, knowledge map and other technologies are used to analyze the relationship between the genotypes of industrial strains and cell lines and industrial indicators such as yield and tolerance, and high-throughput gene editing technology is used to complete genome-scale large-scale editing, improve the adaptability of cell factories in large-scale production, improve production efficiency, and optimize their performance under specific industrial conditions.

(5) Design and optimization of medium formulation

Artificial intelligence-based experimental design strategies, real-time online monitoring, high-throughput analysis and other technical means are used to obtain real and accurate fermentation process data. In combination with metabolic network analysis methods, the optimal ratio of substrate, key nutrients and trace elements in the medium is sought, and key industrial indicators such as microbial and cell growth rate, yield and conversion rate are constantly optimized. Improve the process economy.

(6) Intelligent control of biological reaction processes

Through the combination of intelligent technologies such as intelligent sensing, online analysis and intelligent control, the intelligent control of mass production scale bioreactor and its production process is realized. With the help of control strategies such as precise feeding, variable speed mixing and ventilation adjustment, the important process parameters such as temperature, pH value, dissolved oxygen and key substrate concentration are monitored and adjusted in real time. Establish the reactor physical model and black box database, simulate and predict the biological reaction process, optimize the control stability, improve the response speed, improve the production efficiency, and accelerate the process of fermentation condition optimization and process amplification.

(7) Intelligent testing and quality control of biological manufacturing products

Intelligent technology is used to realize the inspection and inspection of biofabrication products and closed-loop quality control. Through signal enhancement, pattern recognition, image processing and other means, data analysis of sensors and analytical instruments is automatically completed, defects and anomalies of biofabrication intermediates, final products and the entire manufacturing process are quickly identified, and calibration, sorting and other operations are carried out online. The quality information is fed back to the production control system in time to realize real-time dynamic optimization of the key production process parameters.

(8) Other cases

Focus on other aspects of the development of the bio-manufacturing industry enabled by intelligent technology, and have a certain promotion value of typical application cases.

2. Application conditions

(1) The applicant entity is registered in the territory of the People's Republic of China, has the status of an independent legal person, has a good financial position in the past three years, and has no bad record in credit and other aspects. Bio-manufacturing enterprises are encouraged to apply jointly with artificial intelligence enterprises, and small and medium-sized enterprises and start-up teams are encouraged to actively participate in the application.

(2) Typical application cases should have landed and achieved results, have a leading role, and have reference significance and promotion value for relevant industries or enterprises.

(3) The application materials must be objective and true, fully reflect the technical characteristics of the deep integration of artificial intelligence and biological manufacturing, and highly focus on the application needs and key issues of actual scenarios.

(4) Each reporting unit takes the lead in submitting no more than 3 items (limited to 5 items as a participating unit).

3. Working procedures

(A) Provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the Central government and cities separately planned, Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps industry and information technology departments (hereinafter referred to as the provincial industry and information technology departments) are responsible for organizing the application and submission of typical application cases in their regions.

(2) The applicant shall fill in the application form as required (see Annex 1) and submit the application materials to the local provincial industry and information technology authorities.

(3) All provincial industry and information technology authorities shall, before November 8, 2024, mail the summary of recommended case information with official seal (see Annex 2) and the application form of stamped version (in triplicated) to 13 West Chang 'an Avenue, Xicheng District, Beijing, and send the electronic version of materials to spc@miit.gov.com. The paper version of the material should be consistent with the electronic version of the content, inconsistent with the paper version of the material shall prevail.

(4) The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology organized experts to evaluate the application materials submitted by various places, select typical application cases of artificial intelligence in the field of biological manufacturing, and publicize and release them according to the procedures.

4.Other requirements

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has coordinated the collection of typical application cases of intelligent technology in the field of biological manufacturing at the national level, and provided guidance to provincial industrial and information technology departments and application subjects participating in this work; Establish a typical application case database, increase publicity and promotion efforts, and provide support through existing policy channels, and accelerate the integration and development of intelligent technologies such as artificial intelligence and biological manufacturing.

The provincial competent departments of industry and information technology are responsible for organizing the application and recommendation of typical application cases of intelligent technology in the field of biological manufacturing in accordance with the principles of openness, fairness and justice, and strive for relevant support policies in terms of finance, taxation and financial element protection for listed cases and applicant units as appropriate.
