On April 16th, the Information Office of the State Council held a press conference to introduce the economic operation situation of the first quarter of 2026 and answer questions from journalists.
In the first quarter, the proportion of non-fossil energy consumption in total energy consumption increased by 0.4 percentage points year-on-year, further optimizing the energy consumption structure and creating space for the development of green energy-related industries. The development of green productivity is improving, and green trade is growing rapidly.
The manufacturing of bio-based materials and the processing of biomass fuels both saw year-on-year growth of 26.3% and 39.6% respectively, contributing 34.4 and 2.1 percentage points respectively to the growth of traditional industries such as chemical fibers and petroleum processing.
The contribution rate of the increase in the added value of the bio-based materials manufacturing industry increased by 14.4 percentage points year-on-year; in the规模以上 petroleum processing industry， the contribution rate of the increase in the added value of the biomass fuel processing industry increased by 1.4 percentage points.
